Hello Snowdroplets!!

It’s getting to that time of year when you can’t leave the house without a coat. Every year, I look forwards to this to start off with, the thought of getting all cosied up with a chic coat and a snuggly scarf, hat and glove set, but this soon gets tedious and dull. Therefore, to postpone those bad weather blues for as long as possible, it is essential that you invest in a coat to get excited about!! There seem to be some interesting coat trends going round at the moment, so there’s plenty of choice… 😀

The Trend: Tartan

1. 2. 3.  4.

1. Miss Selfridge £75    2. Asos £50    3. Boohoo £55 (also available in red)     4. (As before) John Lewis £79

Tartan is a big trend at the moment, and coats aren’t missing out. My favourite has to be the moss coloured John Lewis one, as the big ‘cocoon’ shape is also very in and I just love the colours and little fur collar and OHHH it’s just soo nice!! :O! I’ve even featured it twice in this post to show my love for it! The black and white Boohoo one is also really cool though, I love the biker essence of it what with the leather details and zips.

The Trend: Fur

1.  2.  3. Waxed Parka Jacket

1. River Island £100    2. Asos £160    3. Matalan £35

Whether you’re after something trendy yet casual for a weekend, smart yet unique to dress up your workwear, or simply something practical but with a touch of class, there’s a fur coat for you!! How snuggly does this River Island one look?! Not to mention, how there is more than just the one texture this year: the classic long fur like that of the black Asos coat, or the ‘teddy texture’ of the River Island one. This trend still looking too scary for you? Then why not just opt for a touch of the trend with a fur collared coat – or a separate fur scarf for your own coat? There’s no escaping this trend, my guess is that it will be everywhere this season!

The Trend: Biker

1. Womens Biker Coat 2.

3.Salt and Pepper Biker Coat

1. GetTheLabel.com £39.99     2. Topshop £85    3. Oasis £100

In my books, anything with that edgy asymmetric zip screams biker style, so you don’t have to go all out with it if you don’t want to, just look for a classic coat with that detail. However, if you do want to go all out, I love the first one what with the the gold zips and leather sleeves, yet the long line of it makes it a bit more sophisticated and interesting than the classic leather jacket – which in my opinion is becoming way too mainstream! 😉

So there you have it, my pick of the top coat trends this season! Which are your favourites?

Fashion At Your Fingertips: Glitter

Long time no see Snowdroplets! I could bombard you with a load of equally dubious sounding (but true, honest!) excuses for not posting much recently but who wants to read that? I have instead decided to make my apologises (sorry guys!) and move on with the promise of posting more soon. I have lots of ideas and things that I can’t wait to share with you! 😀

Firstly, let’s talk glitter. Let’s face it, every girl has a secret (or not so secret) love of glitter. It’s just so sparkly!! :3. And great news: it’s having a big moment on our nails this Autumn/Winter. I find that it is the perfect way to switch from day to night nails.

Before the glitter. I am wearing NYC Colour’s Park Ave.

I love this colour for day wear but wasn’t sure if it would work with glitter…

What do you think?

DSCF1371

I used Wet ‘n Wild’s Spoiled in Shaken Snowglobe.

I have a strong urge to try this out over all of my other nail varnishes now!! 😀

Review: Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain + Balm

Hello Snowdroplets!!

First off, I must apologise for the pretty serious lack of posts – but I do have an excuse, I was on holiday for two weeks and then have been crazy busy with my handmade jewellery business, Snowdrop Gifts, which I may be posting more about soon. In the meantime though, if you’re interested it would mean a lot to me if you liked my Facebook page, unimaginatively titled, wait for it… you guessed it 😉 – ‘Snowdrop Gifts’!!

But anyway, on with this post. I recently went to a small car boot type thing where there was a reasonably sized make-up stall claiming to sell ‘Big Names, at Small Prices!’. Well, how could I resist! I couldn’t believe my luck when I spotted a small basket of Revlon’s new Just Bitten lip products, for only £2 each (in Boots they’re £7.99!). I’m not actually sure which shade mine is, it does say Dawn/Aube on one side of it, so maybe that is it. I don’t know – sorry! But it is just the right amount of colour for me, I reckon. It’s a fairly natural lip colour, but just a bit brighter and more red, but nothing show stopping, which is what I like about it.

I must confess, I’m not a huge fan of the texture of the stain, it reminds me a bit of a watery felt tip, but maybe I’ll get used to that. The balm is smooth and moisturising though, so I tend to put that on before applying the stain, and then again after to seal the colour and stop it from being too matte.

But, I do really like it, especially as it is both a lip stain as well as a balm, and think it’ll be perfect for quick touch-ups during the school day. It will probably become a permanent addition to my blazer make-up pocket! Another great thing about it is that the colour does seem to stay for quite a while, making it even more practical. Snowdrop recommends!!

Fashion At Your Fingertips: Triangles

I’m not quite sure what you’d call this nail look, but I find it quite edgy and sleek, yet with cool, fresh colours, still youthful and summery.

Basically, all I did was paint my nails a pretty mint green with Avon’s Speed Dry in Sprightly Mint and then Sellotape a cross on each of my fingernails, leaving just a triangle bare. Then I would paint on the blue and wait for it to dry. It is very important that you allow more than enough drying time otherwise it will all smudge – I know this from experience! Finally, you then peel off the tape and ta-dah! You are done. 😀

Trend Alert: Spots

Spots have already been pretty big news of late, but with the sighting of not one, but two royalties sporting the look, fashion forecasts that spots will be taking over for Autumn. Oh, and how cute is the royal baby?! Congratz Kate and Wills!

I’ve always had a soft spot (haha) for polka dots so today I’ve got together all my favourite spotty items, which are your faves?

Jack Wills (in the sale) £19

I love the olive colour of these jeans, they add to the too cute vintage feel of them – love, love, love!

Boohoo £10

This is so versatile, and for £10 I reckon you could get plenty of wear out of it – and it’s so pretty!

New Look (in the sale) £12

This is so sleek and modern, if I had a tablet it would soo be going in this!

Topshop £29

This would look really cute either tucked in, or loose – I just love it!

Topshop £30

I love these too much for words. They’re so retro, cute and awesome… if only they were half the price. 😦

Forever21 (in the sale) £1.99

Just add a touch of the trend to your outfit with this big and beautiful bangle!

Cath Kidston (in the sale) £18

Cath Kidston plimsolls are total classics in my books and would just look adorable with jeans, skirts, shorts – you name it!

Something A Bit Different…

First of all, I must apologise for the huge gap between posts – I have been crazy busy recently but now that school has finally finished for Summer, I am FREE and will hopefully be posting more. Until I then go on holiday to America that is… OhmydaysI’msoexcited!!!

But, anyway, today I thought I’d share a poem I wrote. Before you read it, I’d like to make clear that I love make-up as much as the next person, but I don’t feel it should be compulsory. Every now and then, everyone should feel happy enough in their own skin to have a no-make-up day. Dare to bare I say!!

Made up

Make-up
For what?
The fact I’m not PERFECT?
My FLAWS?

Make-up
A face,
Another person,
CONFIDENCE soars?

Make-up
A verb,
A violent
Instruction.

Make-up
For your UGLINESS,
Self esteem
Destruction.

Make-up
More NECESSITIES,
Build up your BEAUTIFUL
Mask.

Make-up
More rules.
Worship each PURIFYING
Task.

It’s not the best thing I’ve ever written, but I wanted to take out a bit of my anger at the media for making us all believe we HAVE to wear make-up to be pretty.

Fashion At Your Fingertips: Polka Dots

Polka dots are super cutsy and always will be. End of. But they seem to be especially popular at the moment, so I decided to do a classy, yet ever youthful spotty design on my nails today. 🙂

20130619-205242.jpg

20130619-205302.jpg

The nail varnishes I used were Revlon’s nail enamel in ‘White on White’ 050 and George’s surprisingly good quick dry nail varnish in ‘Boom’ 71. To do the spots I used my Avon nail art tool – aka. my new best friend! Sorry I’ve been slacking on the old ‘Fashion At Your Fingertips’ kind of, series, thingy but I’m not allowed nail varnish for school, I did this because I have an activity day tomorrow. Let’s hope it stays sunny!!
