Review: Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer by Maybelline

Ok, I know. I am a terrible blogger. It has been a shocking… 3 months since my last post. And I have definitely missed it, but was sadly up to my eyes with GCSEs, but am here now to make amends and that’s all the matters, right? RIGHT? Good :).

I thought I would return with a little review on what is proving to be a highly controversial little product: the Baby Skin Primer by Maybelline New York. What with the ground-breaking success of their Baby Lips range, this primer was awaited with eager anticipation and excitement before it launched in the UK about January time. Not being able to resist trying it for myself, and having been impressed by the tester, I picked one up a couple of weeks ago.

Some people have hated it, saying it has left their skin greasy or hasn’t made a difference; others have loved it saying it made their skin super soft and filled in blemishes. I’m loving it! For me, it did exactly what it said on the tube, and effectively gave me my skin but better, which as I don’t especially have problem skin was exactly what I wanted. What I especially loved was how it didn’t clog up in dry patches, it completely smooths over them , making them soft and if you wished, the perfect base for foundation – but I have actually been loving wearing this by itself. As for poreless skin, it definitely seems to reduce shine, redness and in a way the appearance of blemishes, but I am not convinced that it works any miracles. If you want coverage, I would steer you away from this and perhaps suggest a BB cream or tinted moisturiser instead.

There have been comparisons between this product and Benefit’s Porefessional, but having not tried the latter I cannot comment on this. However, as they are priced at £24.50 per tube, far dearer than the £7.99 I paid for Baby Skin, I am more than satisfied with Maybelline’s version for the time being. ;). Only a small dollop of this silky, clear gel is required, making it quite reasonable in my opinion.

Overall, I am a very happy customer and highly recommend this product!
